If you are a planner, you know what I mean. We have some of the busiest jobs in the world. Oh my goodness the stress! Do you remember before Covid-19? General session, 26 breakouts, and high maintenance speakers… I’ll also add that I am a 5 am riser and one that optimizes her time to the fullest. Organization means EVERYTHING to me and I flourish with a jam-packed schedule. I remember praying for my phone to just slow down with the email pings and back to back phone calls. I remember praying for silence and peace and quiet and to just be able to sit around and do nothing. Here we are… Sitting around and just canceling one event after another.
Who remembers rushing through the airport while on a conference call, getting through security and rushing to plug your laptop so you can get through the emails that came in while you were in the Uber. I will say that my kind of busy was extreme. I manage over 100 events and meetings a year working for a high profile corporation. Somebody always needed me. Somebody was always counting on me. Now, there’s silence.
After a few weeks of sitting around and moping I got it together. I got my routine back and waking up at 5 am has helped. (Not kidding) I will divulge more about my morning routine in the next article. My new life and schedule are surprisingly keeping me busy. When you add homeschooling your kids to the mix, that’s a whole other level of occupied.
I guess it’s not that bad after all. I read more now, work on projects around the house, and I’m even jogging again. This period that we’re going through is not going to last forever (at least I hope not), so use your time wisely my friends. If you would have told me 6 months ago that I would launch a site for meeting planners, I would have walked away and said “Who has time for that?!” Now is the time to invest in yourself and find a project you’re passionate about. You might surprise yourself. Do it now, before we are all busy again.
